Many years ago I was given a freshwater pearl necklace. I was amazed at the different shape each one had. While it wasn’t the most expensive type of pearl, it’s beauty fascinated me. Because of the person who gave it to me, it became priceless and most cherished among my jewelry. Why do I mention those pearls? The memory of them reminds me how uniquely we are all created. The caterpillar, the butterfly, the cheapest and most expensive pearls all have value as part of God’s creation. When we see ourselves as valuable, we can understand why God desires us to be part of his family, his kingdom. If you ever doubt your worth–don’t! Why? Because you are God’s chosen treasure (I Peter 2:9-10)
