Who are you? Why does it matter?

Are you a Mary or a Martha? In our society it is so easy to be a Martha! Now, I’m not saying being a Martha is bad. In fact, I enjoy being around Marthas. Their energy and enthusiasm can be contagious. What I am saying is we can easily get caught up in doing so many things. It becomes easy to forget to take time to linger.

Jesus understood the need and value of lingering. Think about all the times he stopped to fellowship with people along the way. He took time to eat with those who needed to hear his message. He took time to be alone with his Father. He understood the value of lingering.

We are in a season when lingering gets difficult. Yet, amid all the preparations Martha made, Jesus encouraged her to be like her sister and linger with him. It’s a great message, isn’t it?
